Pumphouse Players is pleased to announce the first show in the lineup of new play readings in the Local Playwrights Series: For A Good Time...Mary? by longtime PHP member and friend Karen Ruetz!
On Saturday, November 17th, at 8:00pm, some familiar PHP voices will lend their talents to Karen's quirky and hilarious characters in a reading directed by Laurel Ann Lowe, and followed by a talkback led by Ian Gibson, where audience members are invited to share their thoughts on the show.
Karen's play focuses on Mary, a busy homemaker whose husband Ed has just been laid off from his 23-year-long career. With Ed's steady income gone, Mary has no idea how they're going to make ends meet and continue to take care of Ed's 84-year-old mother, Grammie J. When Mary's friend Jenny asks her to take over her side business while she goes on a cruise, Mary sees it as her opportunity to contribute to the household expenses. But how will she be able to hide her new gig as a phone sex operator?!
